Ms. Karen Lee
TK-K Mandarin Ms. Lee was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and later moved to the United States for English education. Ms. Lee was experienced in designs prior to becoming a teacher. She is passionate in all creative things and caring for children’s development. Ms. Lee has over 6 years of experience working at All Souls in the Mandarin strand and looks forward to many more. She is currently pursuing M.A. at Loyola Marymount University with Mandarin Language Authorization. Ms. Lee is also in the process of obtaining her California Teacher Credential.

Ms. Xinyue Zhang
1st-2nd Grade Mandarin Ms. Zhang was born in Changchun, China and she came to the U.S. in fall of 2014. She graduated from New York University and majored in Tesol which is teaching English as a second language. During that time, she observed various ESL and other Foreign language classes including Mandarin, Spanish and French in 25 primary schools, high schools, colleges and Universities in New York City, which stoked her interests in teaching and curriculum design. In the fall of 2019, she was teaching ESL at Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey. When she graduated from New York University at the end of 2019, she moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her family, and she started teaching Mandarin to students aged 5 to 13 years old. Now she is here at All Souls and will start a wonderful teaching and learning time with our students.

Ms. Mingrui Kong
3rd-4th Mandarin Ms. Kong is originally from the northeast of China – Dalian, a beautiful ocean city. She has been working with children almost 8 years. She worked at an elementary school in China for three years and she spent two years teaching at an international school in Indonesia. She loves teaching, traveling, and getting to know different cultures and customs. She is excited to start her fourth year at All Souls!

Ms. Sarah (Clark) Zhou
5th-6th Mandarin Mrs. Clark was born and raised in mainland China. She is a truly passionate teacher of Chinese language and culture, and always creates the most fun and effective leaning environment for her students. In July 2018, she was part of a team that went to Cambodia to help Chinese teachers in Cambodia how to improve their professional development in teaching Chinese. She had worked at Xi’an International school for four years as a Chinese teacher before she opened her own language school. In 2018, she and her husband came to the United States to celebrate Christmas with her mother-in-law. Due to covid-19, she had to close that Language school. She also is an amazing coach and coordinator at Kare Youth League. Currently she is preparing to enroll in a master’s degree program in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Teaching Credential at Cal Poly Pomona.

Mr. Shuang (Mark) Luo
7th-8th Mandarin & Social Studies Mr. Luo obtained a B.A. degree with a major in Chinese Language and Literature from Fudan University, one of the top universities in China. He was an associate professor at a private university in Beijing, teaching college students writing and Chinese traditional culture. Also, he has written and published twelve books about literature, culture, and history. Nine of his opinion articles were published on BBC. Mr. Luo moved to America in 2014. He has experience teaching elementary, middle, and high school students Mandarin in the USA. He hopes to serve the students at All Souls and help them achieve their academic goals. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Luo enjoys watching movies, playing chess and Weiqi (Encircling Game), and listening to music and Beijing opera.

Ms. Crystal Shek
TK/K Mandarin Instructional Aide Ms. Shek was born and raised in Hong Kong before moving to Southern California in 2014. She was raised Catholic and received an all-girls Catholic school education in Hong Kong. Ms. Shek received her BA in Sociology at Loyola Marymount University and Masters in Social Work at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a creative and passionate individual who is always challenging herself to grow. Her Hong Kong roots and passion for equal access to cultural education has led her to All Souls. Ms. Shek’s goal is to positively empower students to achieve whatever they set their mind to. She loves Disney, drinking boba, playing the ukulele and spending time with her family and friends. |
